World Traveler Mrs. Omar Teaches Second Grade

Rhoda Omar is a well-traveled teacher! Born in Chicago and raised in cities across the U.S. and internationally, she moved from Boise, Idaho in 2008 to settle down in Hawaii.
“I haven’t looked back since!” Mrs. Omar said. “While I enjoy returning home in the summers to visit my family, I do love the warm, tropical weather in Hawaii.”
Mrs. Omar graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a degree in elementary education. She had the pleasure of studying under three teachers from Lanai High & Elementary, and is excited to teach independently for the first time this year.
She lives on Lanai with her husband, nine-year-old son Zain and dog Koa. Though she still loves to travel, these days she can often be found planning activities for her students and spending quality time with her family.
As a second grade teacher, Mrs. Omar is looking forward to working with her young students to challenge, collaborate and build their confidence. “My goal is to create a safe classroom environment where students feel respected and appreciated for who they are.”
Come say hi to Mrs. Omar, LHES’ new second grade teacher!
