Texan Teacher Loves Lanai Life

Lanai school teacher Cheyenne Farrell in her classroom

Lanai school teacher Cheyenne Farrell in her classroomWhen Cheyenne Farrell moved to Lanai with her fiancé Casey in May, she was struck by the many different microclimates on the island. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, where Ms. Farrell worked as a therapist for children with autism, she was familiar with just one summertime climate: hot.

Working with children comes naturally to Ms. Farrell; she has a large family and is one of five children. She teaches seventh- and eighth-grade math to her students, who are “happy and engaged in learning.”

One of her favorite things about LHES so far is the diversity of cultures and ethnicities. “Students take pride in their various cultures, as evidenced by them sharing with one another in class.”

When she’s not teaching, Ms. Farrell is busy exploring Lanai — by land and sea. She enjoys hiking, off-roading, and snorkeling, where she takes videos of the ocean life she sees.

“I love the beach,” she said.
