Jennifer Montgomery is LHES’s new curriculum coach

Originally from California, Jennifer Montgomery has been living on Lanai since 2001. For the past 15 years she has worked as an LHES third grade teacher, but this fall she returns to the school as a curriculum coach and mentor for new teachers. In this position, she will play an essential role in an induction program created to support the long term success of LHES faculty, and ultimately, students.

The induction program’s objective is to smooth the transition process for new teachers and provide them with the necessary training and support to prepare them for a career of teaching at LHES. Living and working on Lanai is a very unique experience, and new teachers coming from neighbor islands or the mainland are welcomed into the school and the community with the help of the induction program. The transition from teaching in the classroom to supporting teachers has been a transformative experience for Jennifer. She hopes she will have a new, positive impact on students by guiding elementary school teachers and showing them what resources are available at the school and in the community.

In addition to her role as a curriculum coach, Jennifer will continue her role as an instructor for the sixth grade gifted and talented exploratory program. One of her favorite things about the school is that the students at LHES are very respectful.

Jennifer loves the beauty of Lanai and in her free time she can be found at the beach, hiking, adventuring or running.
