New middle school teacher Robert Strohl teaches multiple subjects, including sixth grade Health, seventh grade Life Science and eighth grade Earth Science.

Strohl recently moved to Lanai from Ocean View, Big Island, where he lived for 12 years. Originally from Kent, Washington, Strohl attended the University of Hawaii, Hilo and chose to stay on the Big Island after graduating. Strohl has always been interested in the natural sciences, and he was the only student among his peers at UH Hilo to publish a scientific paper.

The opportunity to have a fresh start and meet new people attracted Strohl to the island, and, as he puts it, “the students are awesome!” Strohl is a kid at heart, and enjoys playing video games and watching Youtube videos during his time off.

He is still getting used to the smallness of Lanai (he did come from the biggest island!) and the cost of living. We hope you have the chance to talk story with Strohl, and share recommendations of fun things to do on island!
