New Island Air Turboprop Planes Coming to An Airport Near You

Soon, Lanai travelers will be jet-setting between the islands in swanky Q400 NextGen turboprop planes recently purchased by Island Air.
The two turboprop planes can carry 71 passengers each. Island Air currently offers flights to and from the islands of Oahu, Maui, Lanai, and Kauai.
The Q400 NextGen aircraft, built at Bombardier’s Toronto, Ontario facility, is the fastest new-technology turboprop, providing both jet speed and turboprop fuel efficiency. Optimized for short-haul operations, the Q400 NextGen aircraft is touted as being large, fast, quiet and fuel-efficient.
“We are excited to bring the Q400 NextGen turboprop planes to Lanai,” said Paul Casey, president and chief executive officer of Island Air. “The addition of these new airplanes will allow us to deliver comfort and enhance the flight experience for locals and visitors.”
Island Air currently offers flights to and from Honolulu, Lihue on Kauai, Kahului on Maui, and Lanai, using a fleet of 64-seat ATR-72 turboprop aircrafts.
“We’re really excited; it will be terrific to fly in style in the brand new planes,” said Jonie Sarme, Lanai resident.
