About the hike: Registered hikers will be transported via 4WD vans from the meeting point at the Dole Admin flagpole to the Fog Drip Research Station on Lanai Hale. After a discussion about the history of the site and Lāna‘i’s unique native wildlife, the group will take a short ¼ mile hike along the forested upper extent of Hookio Ridge to learn about its significance in Lāna‘i’s history as well as restoration plans for Lanai Hale amidst a small assortment of native trees. The main portion of the hike is a trail that tiers off of Munro Trail about ½ mile north of the Fog Drip Station. This ridge was a former horse trail during the ranching years and affords spectacular views of Kaiholena Gulch and Lanai City, weather permitting. The conclusion of the hike is the former Koele Golf Course clubhouse, where the plans for the area will be shared with the group.
