Community Meeting Transforms Dole Park into Walkable Exhibition

Several hundred Lanai residents attended a community meeting hosted by Pulama Lanai at Dole Park on Feb. 8, despite heavy rain.

The gathering aimed to show residents initiatives under way or that will break ground the first half of 2014.

Information was presented graphically on 12 large panels positioned so that residents could stroll around them and talk story with others at the meeting. The panels addressed topics such as desalination, natural resources, aquaculture, cultural resources, restoration of the Lanai Theater, and the addition of a hospice. Subject matter experts from the community and Pulama Lanai were on hand to provide additional information and answer questions.
